AVINASH KOLLURI

Complex problems. Calm interfaces.

Four years designing healthcare, fitness, and biotech products, turning research into things people actually want to use.

Short intro

Designer. Researcher. Builder. Most of what I do is figuring out what not to build.

Over four years I've worked across healthcare, fitness technology, biotechnology, SaaS, and mobile, mostly on products where getting it wrong actually costs someone something.

Every decision has to satisfy three masters: what people need, what the business needs, and what's realistically buildable. I try to keep all three honest.

Work

Six roles. Four years of learning what "complicated" actually means.

  1. 01

    CareDocs.ai

    Healthcare AI, Remote

I designed two of the platform's core AI features from the ground up. Clara is an AI copilot that lets therapists ask questions and find patient information in plain language instead of digging through records. The Compliance Agent reviews uploaded patient documentation automatically, flags gaps, and catches compliance risks before they become a problem. Alongside both, I shaped the wider clinical workflow end to end, from research through wireframes to shipped, high-fidelity screens.

  2. 02

    Portl Technologies

    Fitness and Healthcare

I led design across the whole Portl ecosystem: the UltraGym mobile app, a smart mirror platform, and the customer-facing website. The real challenge was personalization, building workouts, recommendations, and journeys that adapted to each person's goals instead of treating everyone the same.

  3. 03

    Tectoro Consulting

    Technology, Drone Operations

Drogo is a drone platform for automated crop spraying and farm management. I designed the enterprise dashboards that gave teams visibility into drone activity, service history, and performance, and simplified the genuinely complicated part: scheduling, route execution, and coordinating everyone involved in a single field operation.

    Partha Dental

    Healthcare, Digital Presence

I redesigned Partha Dental's digital presence around one goal: turning visits into booked appointments. That meant new landing pages and a content approach built for clarity and trust, worked through alongside the business, marketing, and engineering teams who had to hit real acquisition numbers.

  2. 05

    Plenome

    IIT Madras Incubation, Health Tech

Working with an international client through IIT Madras's incubation program, I designed workflow dashboards that helped clinicians and operations teams manage patient information without wading through noise. It was data heavy, healthcare grade software, and my first real lesson in designing for people who don't have time to learn an interface.

  3. 06

    Genome Helex

    Biotech Platform

Genome Helex needed a digital presence that could translate serious genetic research into something a non scientist could actually follow. I designed and helped launch it, working closely with researchers and business stakeholders to keep it credible without losing usability. It's where I built the fundamentals: research, wireframing, prototyping, and working with people who know more than you do.

About

"Subtraction is a design decision. I'll cut ten features before I ship one that gets in the way."

Research before pixels.

I don't open Figma on day one. Interviews, usability testing, behavioural analysis, journey maps: the patterns underneath what people actually do come first. Design starts after, not before.

Systems, not just screens.

A gorgeous screen means nothing if the system underneath it snaps under weight. I build for scale from the start: patterns that repeat, systems that hold, products that stay intuitive as they grow up.

Nothing ships on the first try.

First drafts are rarely right, mine included. Every project gets prototyped, tested, and rebuilt, sometimes more than once, until it earns its place.

Beyond design

Off the clock, it's rarely a screen.

Animal Welfare

Weekends sometimes go to animal rescue and adoption work, not design.

Plants

Building tiny indoor ecosystems, the rarer the tropical leaf the better.

Chess

Competitive chess, national level champion back in Kenya.

Art

Acrylic on canvas, or just a pencil and whatever's nearby.

Music

Self-taught on piano, still learning, mostly for me.

Emerging Tech

Wearables, IoT, AI products: anything that hints at what's next.
